Educational Coach - Leah Shaw EdD, MEd, BS

Leah is an educational consultant who works with students and families to better understand how individuals learn best, and how to help them thrive in school at any level. With a background in special education, reading intervention, and academic coaching, she supports students with learning differences, executive functioning challenges, and barriers to academic success.

She has served as a special education teacher, reading specialist, intervention coordinator, and currently works as a learning specialist supporting medical school students. This range of experience allows her to translate complex learning science into practical, real-world strategies that families can use right away.

Through individualized consultations, Leah helps parents make sense of learning needs, strengthen school partnerships, and support positive academic outcomes. Her work is collaborative, strengths-based, and focused on building confidence, clarity, and long-term success. 

Background & Qualifications

• EdD (Doctor of Education, Curriculum & Instruction); MEd (Master of Education, Reading Specialist), BS (Bachelor of Science, Early Childhood/Elementary/Special Education)

• Certified Reading Specialist; Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner

• Experience as Special Education Teacher, Intervention Coordinator, and Learning Specialist for adult learners

• Deep knowledge of learning profiles, neurodiversity, and evidence-based intervention methods

• Identify individual learning profiles, strengths, and barriers
• Teach strategies tailored to cognitive processing, executive functioning, and academic demands
• Design customized learning plans that support organization, study methods, and efficiency
• Provide ongoing coaching to help students integrate habits, track progress, and troubleshoot challenges

• Help families understand the underlying learning needs of their child
• Review school-based supports, reports, and communication to identify gaps
• Recommend home and school strategies that foster success
• Coach parents on how to advocate collaboratively and effectively within school systems

• Reading intervention expertise, including decoding, fluency, and comprehension needs
